Title: Van Gogh – Poets and Lovers | Stories of Art
Location: Kino Lumiere (K1), Špitálska 4, Bratislava
Organizer: Kino Lumiere (K1), K1
Event Description:
An art documentary based on the “exhibition of the century” at the National Gallery in London, which at the end of 2024 organized the largest-ever British exhibition of paintings by Vincent van Gogh. The new film Van Gogh – Poets and Lovers offers a unique opportunity to experience this exhibition through the cinema screen.
Van Gogh is among the greatest artists of all time, but also one of the most misunderstood. The film allows viewers to explore and better understand this iconic artist. It focuses on the artist’s specific creative process and examines his years spent in the south of France, where he significantly developed his artistic style.
He was captivated by a passion for storytelling through art, transforming the world around him into vivid, idealized spaces and symbolic figures. Poets and lovers absorbed his imagination, and everything he created in the south of France served this new obsession.
