The Smurfs in the Movie | Holidays at Lumière
The Smurfs return to the big screen!
Although these little blue legends were born nearly seventy years ago, they continue to win over new generations of fans. This summer, we’re going to smurf it up like never before!
In the Smurf village, there’s a contagious sense of peace and harmony—but it never lasts long. The moment the evil wizard Gargamel comes up with a new trap, all the little blue creatures are in danger. Fortunately, the wise Papa Smurf is always ready with a plan to save them from Gargamel’s schemes.
But what happens if Papa Smurf himself disappears?
That’s exactly what this animated film explores.
The head of the Smurf village is kidnapped by a mysterious force that suddenly appears in the sky. After a brief but understandable phase of panic, Smurfette takes charge and organizes a daring rescue mission. The journey takes the Smurfs to the most dangerous place under the sun—our world, specifically Paris. And there, they’re in for a surprise bigger than the Eiffel Tower itself.
They discover that Gargamel is behind the kidnapping—but he didn’t act alone. He had help from his secret brother, Razamel. And the surprises don’t stop there. Papa Smurf’s own brother makes an appearance! His name is Ken, and he’s so outraged by the kidnapping that he decides to join the rescue mission.
As always with the Smurfs, there’ll be plenty of dancing and singing alongside the adventure. That’s why the role of Smurfette was voiced by global superstar Rihanna, with the Slovak version performed by the vocally talented Andrea Somorovská. The rest of the Slovak voice cast is also top-notch, featuring Peter Marcin, Kamil Mikulčík, Števo Martinovič, and Zuzana Vačková.
“We tried to honor the original comic while creating a visual experience that’s appealing to today’s young audiences. I believe we’ve succeeded,” promises director Chris Miller.
