The Almost Proud Princess
(a family musical)

The Almost Proud Princess is an original Slovak family musical by Michal Babiak and Milan Malinovský. It is loosely based on the Czech folk tale “Punished Pride” from National Fairy Tales and Legends II by Božena Němcová. The fairy tale is well known thanks to the 1952 film adaptation starring Alena Vránová in the title role.

Our version differs slightly from the literary and film versions, as it was created specifically for the stage. Audiences can look forward to new plot twists and new characters – such as the evil witch Černorada, the comedic jester, and the muddled King Polnočník.

We believe that the fairy tale musical by Divadlo bez masky (Theatre Without a Mask) will delight audiences of all ages – not just children, but also their parents and grandparents.
