ANNOTATION
The Slovak Youth Orchestra is a project of the Music Centre Slovakia, bringing together outstanding students from Slovak conservatories and music academies at regular training sessions since 2017.

The summer session, during which the musicians will study Ján Levoslav Bella’s Concert Overture in E-flat major, Spring Jar by Košice-born Vladislav Šarišský (composed on commission by the Music Centre for the Slovak Youth Orchestra), Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto in E-flat major, and Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 6 in D major, Op. 60, will conclude with concerts in Piešťany (House of Arts of the Slovak Philharmonic, August 11, 7:30 PM), Bratislava (Large Concert Studio of Slovak Radio, August 12, 7:00 PM), and Berlin (Konzerthaus, Young Euro Classic 2025 Festival, August 14, 7:00 PM).

The soloist will be Stanislav Masaryk, principal trumpet of the Czech Philharmonic, which was named “Orchestra of the Year 2024” by the prestigious British magazine Gramophone. Stanislav Masaryk is a graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava (VŠMU) and a laureate of several performance competitions. As a soloist, he has performed with both the Czech and Slovak Philharmonic, and has led masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 2022, he received the Ľudovít Rajter Award and recorded the profile CD album Postcards.

The conductor of the Slovak Youth Orchestra will be Sophie Dervaux, who has earned a worldwide reputation as a bassoonist, both as a soloist and chamber musician, and as a member of renowned orchestras such as the Berliner Philharmoniker and Wiener Philharmoniker. In recent years, she has successfully developed an international conducting career, appearing with orchestras such as the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Munich Chamber Orchestra, and Prague Chamber Philharmonia.
