About the Program:

Petr Eben significantly enriched the impressive organ repertoire with his works. Vítězslav Novák devoted much of his work to the study of folk songs from Moravia and Slovakia, although his approach was radically different from that of Leoš Janáček. This influence of folk music is clear in the vibrant motifs of Janáček’s Postlude. The emotionally intense Harpsichord Sonata is one of Bohuslav Martinů’s final works. Miloslav Kabeláč was one of the most active Czech modernists of the 20th century, often drawing on classical forms. Roman Berger’s works always explore the intersection of philosophy, music, and ethical laws. Finally, Francis Poulenc’s Organ Concerto is a brilliant representative piece of 20th-century classical music.
