Course in Hand-Drawn Animation with Mária Kralovič

The course will consist of five sessions, each on Wednesdays from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The course focuses on traditional hand-drawn animation on paper, without the use of complex computer software. Using line drawing, participants will learn the basic principles of animation, such as frame-by-frame drawing, movement phasing, and loop (cycling). All of this will be done at a slow and steady pace, which is how every meticulous animation is created. The course is intended for both beginners and advanced learners. It can also benefit illustrators and experienced drawers who wish to enhance their work with animation.

Theme: Using drawn lines, participants will create a sequence of animated metamorphoses, which will ultimately be looped. This will result in an original visual piece with an animated dimension.

In a small group, a safe, creative, and inspiring environment will be created for the interactive sharing of works, ideas, and feedback.

Mária Kralovič: She studied applied arts in Kremnica and animation at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She currently works as a lecturer at the Department of Animation. In addition to her own films, she has collaborated as an animator on various TV series and commercials. Her latest animated film, Fifi Fatale, was nominated for the national film award Slnko v sieti. She is currently working on her authorial film titled Tourists. She lives and works in Bratislava.
