Event Description:
LORDI
A scandalous salon comedy that mocks male vanity.
The play LORDI was created based on the correspondence of the famous Oscar Wilde. In this salon comedy, which pokes fun at male vanity but also celebrates strong friendship, the bizarre plot will unfold through three lords played by Maroš Kramár, Jozef Vajda, and Peter Šimun, directed by Peter Serge Butka.
However, there will be no “love letters” or business letters from major corporations being read. A much bigger surprise is in store, which is not suitable for people under the age of fifteen or for puritanical ladies. The play is “slightly spicy” and is intended for an adult audience seeking a good time.
The play LORDI is a work based on discovered correspondence found in the attic of one of the apartments in Paris. It was discovered by the writer Pascal Renia, who was fascinated by it and tried to extract its potential for a dramatic piece.
The play is specifically one that Oscar Wilde and his friend Robbie Ross had started writing, inspired by Wilde’s condemnation by a London court for sodomy and his two-year imprisonment. The correspondence included detailed schemes and ideas for a play, which, however, never came to light during the lifetimes of its creators. Now, it is being presented to the audience in its Slovak premiere, produced by Maroš Kramár’s Atelier, and aims to reveal the somewhat bitter secret hidden in the letters that helped shape the production.
