Title: LES FLEURS
Venue: Kapitulská 1
Organizer: House of the Albrecht Family (Dom Albrechtovcov), Kapitulská 1, Bratislava

Event Description:

Erik Satie – precursor or prophet – that’s how Debussy once described Satie. He became the spiritual father of the French avant-garde, proud of his technical limitations, yet meticulous in achieving perfection through simplicity. He erased the centuries-old canon of mastery, brilliance, and virtuosity from the vocabulary of what defines a perfect artist.

François Lesure characterizes Debussy‘s work in one of his writings as follows:

“He was one of the most important musicians of his time, and his harmonic innovations deeply influenced entire generations of composers. In his only completed opera Pelléas et Mélisande, he decisively moved away from Wagnerism, and in his works for piano and orchestra, he created new genres and revealed a palette of colors and tones that brought forth a profoundly original musical aesthetic.”
