KABARET
(The Best of GUnaGU 1985–2025)

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the theatre, GUnaGU has prepared a “cabaret” program featuring fragments from its most successful plays. The texts are not only comedic, full of absurd and dark humor, but also contain serious moments reflecting the theatre’s history as well as the past decades of Slovakia.

The selection of songs performed on stage over four decades has been electronically remixed by composer Slavo Solovic. The visual elements and video art, created with the help of AI, were designed by Juraj Demovič. The cast includes both the oldest and youngest generations of GUnaGU actors, including students from the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU).

The fragments, both comedic and serious or lyrical, showcase GUnaGU as the audience has known it for 40 years — a theatre that can address the most urgent issues of our time with humor. The show is hosted by the theatre’s founder and artistic director, Viliam Klimáček.
