CABARET
(The Best of GUnaGU 1985–2025)
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of its founding, GUnaGU Theatre presents a “cabaret-style” performance composed of fragments from its most successful plays. These texts are not only comedic—full of absurd and dark humor—but also contain serious moments that reflect the theatre’s history and the social and political shifts in Slovakia over the past four decades.
A selection of songs performed on the GUnaGU stage over the years has been electronically remixed by composer Slavo Solovic, while the visual elements and video art—created with the help of AI—are the work of Juraj Demovič. The show features both the oldest and youngest generations of GUnaGU actors, including students from the Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU).
The chosen fragments—comic, serious, and lyrical—portray GUnaGU Theatre as audiences have known it for 40 years: a theatre that tackles the most pressing issues of our time through the lens of humor.
The cabaret is hosted by the theatre’s founder and artistic director, Viliam Klimáček.
