Time: 6:00 PM
Title: In the Clouds
Location: Kapitulská 313/1
Organizer: Garden of the House of the Albrecht Family, Kapitulská 1, Bratislava

Event Description:

Alfred Desenclos came to music relatively late. During his youth, he had to work to support his family, but by the age of twenty, he was already studying piano at the conservatory in Roubaix, and in 1942 he won the Prix de Rome. He composed a wealth of works which, being predominantly melodic, harmonically rich, and tonally grounded, were often overlooked during the more experimental post-war period. The final quartet of this concert confirms his confident command of the saxophone idiom, his sense of musical progression, and his sensitive handling of motifs oscillating between jazz and classical stylistic domains.

Program:

  • Jean Françaix (1912–1997): Petit Quatuor pour Saxophones
  • Jiří Pauer (1919–2007): Suite for Four Saxophones
