As part of the In Jazz We Trust series, he will perform with Nikolaj Nikitin, Štefan Bartuš, and Klemens Marktl. We warmly invite you to an exciting New Year’s show full of positive energy, which will take place at the Nu Spirit Bar.

Alan Bartuš is an extraordinary piano virtuoso who is already regarded as one of the most significant figures of his generation. As a semifinalist of the prestigious International Piano Competition of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz in 2023, he confirmed his place among the world jazz elite. Born on February 22, 2001, in Lučenec, Slovakia, into a musical family, Alan followed in the footsteps of his father Štefan, a renowned jazz musician. He began taking piano lessons at the age of four and by the time he was thirteen, he was already one of the greatest talents in Europe.

His musical journey began in Slovakia, continued in Austria at a music school in Neusiedl am See, and later at the Conservatory in Bratislava. Under the guidance of Mgr. Andrea Bálešová, he won several awards at international competitions, including first place at the competition in Kamenica nad Lipou (2016) and second place in Milan (2017) and Eisenstadt (2016). His interest in jazz deepened in 2018 when he started studying jazz piano at the MUK University in Vienna under the tutelage of Professor Oliver Kent.

As a rising star in the international jazz scene, Alan has performed with artists such as saxophonist Jerry Bergonzi and New York artist Tim Armacost. His discography includes successful albums Solology and Born in Millennium, as well as collaborations with esteemed musicians. His work has earned admiration from jazz legends such as Peter Bernstein and Tony Lakatos.

The year 2022 was a breakthrough for Alan – he won several prestigious awards, including the Excellence Piano Award, the Ö1 Austrian Jazz Prize, and was accepted into the prestigious Manhattan School of Music in New York. In 2023, he became the winner of the International Piano Competition in Langnau, Switzerland, and a laureate of the Austrian ARTEDEA Prize. Alan’s unique virtuosity and depth of musical expression place him among the most interesting young talents on the world jazz scene.
