Bohdan Warchal: A man of modest stature but immense spirit, whose activities inspired, motivated, and spread the joy of music. It is therefore commendable that today’s musicians dedicate special attention to his memory. The Czech horn player Radek Baborák is a well-known figure in Slovakia and guarantees a dignified Hommage à Warchal. Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy wrote his magnificent string symphonies as a teenager; Mozart’s horn concertos are fundamental to the repertoire of any experienced horn player; Leone Sinigaglia’s Romance was created in the beautiful mountainous region of northern Italy, where the composer, an enthusiastic mountaineer, frequently visited. Dvořák’s Nocturne creates a nearly hypnotic atmosphere. Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 42 sparkles with his renowned inventiveness and brilliant ideas.
