Title: FRAGILE
Venue: Jantárová 107/1

Event Description:

FRAGILE is a Slovak vocal group composed of prominent vocal personalities, who, without the use of musical instruments, perform popular world hits a cappella. The concerts of the FRAGILE group are filled not only with excellent music but also captivating humor, making for an unforgettable evening full of great entertainment.

A unique aspect of FRAGILE is the musical genre they perform—a cappella—which refers to vocal music performed without any instrumental accompaniment. In simpler terms, where singers in regular music groups have instruments helping them, a cappella singers rely solely on their voices. With no instruments to hide behind, every note must be perfect and pure. FRAGILE masters this challenging genre with ease, as evidenced by multiple awards, including three OTO awards (Personality of the Television Screen) for the Most Popular Music Group and the Krištálové krídlo award for the album Hlasy with Richard Müller.

The word “fragile” means “delicate,” and it aptly reflects the essence of a cappella music—fragile in the sense that any imperfection, whether rhythmic or tonal, stands out clearly, like a scratch on clear glass. A small mistake from one singer can cause the entire musical structure to collapse. However, FRAGILE performs the a cappella genre with great ease and energy, which is difficult to describe—you have to experience it yourself.

A cappella: The term “a cappella” comes from Italian and literally means “as in the chapel.” Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when the use of instruments in chapels was prohibited, and only singing was allowed. Thus, the singing of an individual or group without instrumental accompaniment is still called a cappella to this day.
