Event Description:
Ukrainian screenwriter and director Nikolai Iljinski chose the eponymous book by English author Allan Winnington as the basis for his film, which was also published in Slovakia. Through a detective story that delves into questions of crimes against medical ethics, the film aims to capture the atmosphere of contemporary English society, particularly the upper classes. While adhering closely to the literary work in many details, the film significantly deviates from the book in its conclusion. In the screenplay, the ending becomes an indictment of an immoral system: whereas in the book, millionaire Tony Fairfax, accused by Inspector Gullet of complicity in a double murder, commits suicide, in the film Fairfax’s Millions, the wealth and power of Fairfax allow him to protect himself from an inconvenient witness…

In Slovak: Milan Kňažko, Magda Vašáryová, Dušan Blaškovič, Ľubo Roman, Naďa Kotršová, and others.

This film seems to explore themes of justice, morality, and social class through a gripping narrative.
