Film director Ferzan Özpetek invites his favorite actresses — those he has worked with and those he has loved — to create a film about women, though he reveals little: he observes and draws inspiration from them until his imagination transports him to another era, to the past.

We find ourselves in 1970s Rome, inside a prestigious theatrical and film costume workshop. The voices of the protagonists are accompanied by the sound of sewing machines and the hustle of work. The workshop is a closed world full of brave and determined women, with their passions, fears, anxieties, but also inseparable bonds. A world where reality intertwines with fiction.

Diamonds is not only an elegant celebration of the female universe featuring eighteen radiant actresses, but also a tribute to Italian tailoring tradition and fashion. Above all, it is an homage to cinema — told from an unexpected perspective, that of the costume.
