Start: 28th December 2024 | 14:00
Location: In front of St. Stephen of Hungary Church (Capuchin Church)
Address: Župné námestie 10, Bratislava
Organizer: Bratislava Cultural and Information Centre
During the Christmas season, churches are beautifully decorated with Christmas trees and nativity scenes. In addition, they are certainly warmer inside than outside during the winter. Therefore, we believe that you will appreciate the opportunity to explore history within the church’s interior.
We will explore the history of the order that arrived in Bratislava in 1674, learn about its most important milestones, times of prosperity and decline, and take a detailed look at the architecture typical of Capuchin churches and monasteries, as well as their interior.
We will leave the church differently than we entered. We will pass through the back part of the presbytery, which is usually inaccessible to visitors, and through the cloistered corridors, where we will also see a small courtyard (the so-called paradise garden), before exiting onto Zochova Street (near the Zochova bus stop).
The Capuchin Monastery in Bratislava is inhabited, so the tour of the monastery rooms is not part of our itinerary.
