Event Description:

Brutally Beautiful, Yet Brutally Forgotten.
Next to the grey flood of prefabricated apartment blocks, exceptional, spiritual, and timeless buildings were also created in the second half of the 20th century — buildings that caught attention even in the West. Jan Zajíček, based on an idea by Vladimír 518, directed a unique full-length cinematic exploration into the pre-revolutionary architectural scene.

Against the backdrop of impressive shots of the most interesting post-war buildings in both the Czech Republic and Slovakia, complemented by testimonies from leading architects and theorists, a vivid portrait of the era emerges. The documentary “Architecture of Czechoslovakia 1958-1989” is the first film to comprehensively map the architecture of the communist period in Czechoslovakia.
