Title: À TRIO D’ANCHES DE PARIS
Location: Kapitulská 313/1
Organizer: Garden of the Albrechtovci House, Kapitulská 1, Bratislava
Event Description:
As a young musician, Georges Auric was influenced by Erik Satie and joined a group of French composers known as Les Six, who wrote music with a popular character. According to Auric, it was music that provided “auditory pleasure without demanding excessive effort from the listener.” Besides Auric, the group included Francis Poulenc, Darius Milhaud, Arthur Honegger, Germaine Tailleferre, and Louis Durey.
In addition to composing music, Auric worked to improve the status of the composer’s profession in French culture. From 1954 to 1978, he was the president of SACEM, the French society for musical rights, and from 1962 to 1968, he served as director of the Paris National Opera. He continued composing chamber music, mainly for wind instruments, until his death.
